Gigcember contd

As promised, more from gigcember.

As previously mentioned Tuesday was biffy in nottingham.
Then on friday went stayed local at Wolverhampton
Wulfrun hall and saw old school favourites Reef.

Again just goes to show im not a true fan as there were
loads of tracks i didnt know, but again the ones i did were
awesome!! Place your hands - 'or its your letters' from
TFI Friday for those who remember it was ace as my favourite
Ive got something to say!! The lead singer has an air of 'Jagger'
about him and the band rocked wolves!!

Its your letters, its your letters!

Gigcember

So this week has been a busy one, in and out of the studio.

Tuesday night, we took a cold trip to Nottinghams Trent FM
arena to see the might Biffy Clyro, who rocked. It proved that
i am a glory fan though as i only knew their charted songs!!
But the songs i actually knew were frickin awesome!!

Biffy must have seen our blog, as they had a configuration
of bulbs at the end of the stage the same as we have in our
studio!! Heres a couple of pix from the night...

more from gigcember on my next post...

Weekend Shennanigans

This Sunday, we made an impromptu road trip to Sunny (and cold)
Barmouth. Typically the satnav took us a crazy route and it took
ages to get there, and when we did actually get there, most of
Barmouth was closed!! So we had a mooch around by the beach,
had an obligatory pint and ate fish and chips in the car
(note, dont eat fish and chips in the car, because it smells for a week)

Fantastic to see the 'Arousal Cafe' is still there!!

Good time had by all though and was very nice to be beside
the seaside!! Here are a few snaps...

Kancho HQ

Still in the process of finishing off our studio interior,
this week Lisa has fitted our 'showroom installation'.

With a few framed images of previous projects
and our 3D typographic signage. Also completed
this week is our 2D coat stand! We now officially
have somewhere to hang our coats.

Simply Brilliant!!

Called over to our client Simply Beauty this week to
see how their refurb was going and got roped into
fitting the opening times window vinyls. Now its
been about 10 years since ive done this - but ive still
got it, they look ace! The rebrand works really well
and all parties concerned are very happy. Yay!

Officially the coolest coffee shop in the world

Heres one of those 'i wish i'd done that' projects.

D'espresso at 42nd and Madison in NYC. The floor, ceiling
and one of the walls is clad in 'book case' printed tiles. This
wraps around the interior and to make you think theres
something stronger in the coffee the main pendant lights
come off the wall rather than the ceiling so the whole space
feels like its on its side!! Awesome!

So Far So young

Phew, busy month!!

Another client this month is style blogger Alison who
operates So Far So Young a beauty tips and advice blog.
As the blog is aimed at a female audience, we used
a 1950's pin-up girl as the main logo marque, a vintage
mix of type with a flare highlight to give it some glamour.
Heres the result...

Our favourite new client!

Our Favourite new client is - Silver Sixpence.

This Super cool wedding planner needed a modern/vintage style.
We achieved this through the use of multiple typefaces, making up
the main logo and the use of textures and montages on the site
and promotional material.

Whats the Weather like?

Whats the Weather like? Well in our case its a clean new content
managed web presence for client WeatherTec Property Services.
Weathertec approached us to update their existing site which
was in dire need of a refresh. We and the client are extremely
happy with the result.

Custom Tshirt Design

Our friend, 10 Bears came to visit the other day with a
sneek peek at my custom tshirt design he is working on.
At present its a line drawing, but he will be finalising the
design over the next couple of weeks.

Post Holiday meeting

New Business Win announcement!

On the way back from Ebrington we had a meeting
with new client, Quasin from Mount Batten restaurant
in Evesham. Kancho will be providing a new brand identity
and interior scheme. We are thrilled with this new business
win and are looking forward to working a full brand strategy.

The restaurant is set in a beautiful grade 2 listed building...
keep an eye on the blog for the finished product next month

Blogathon

Ok in effort to blog a bit more im going to cram as many
new blog posts in as possible today!! As mentioned on twitter
at the beginning of the week, we had a relaxing break in the
cotswolds last weekend. In Ebrington to be more precise.

We stayed at The Tythe Barn cottage in the little village of
Ebrington, not far from Chipping Camden. And it was ace!
No laptop, no phone reception but we did have great meal
at The Ebrington Arms, which i would highly recommend
and retired back to the cottage with the fire roaring.

Great times had by all!

Long time no blog

Been too busy to blog lately!!
Still finalising some elements of our office and running around
for new business meetings and trying to design a little bit inbetween
has meant a complete lack of social networking!!

Lots has been happening, new digital projects have launched,
new brand identities are being finalised. We have met a lot of
new people of the last few weeks and are putting proposals
together!! Also ive bought a sony w360 with a panorama
sweep feature which is great fun and will be really useful
on interior projects for the portfolio - heres a few sample
shots of the office and a bedraggled, Charlie the cat.

The panorama feature is ace! it distorts, the larger the
sweep but for interior photography it really is great

Charlie looks like he is hungover on this shot! I dont think
he is though, unless he snook into the booze cupboard again!

New Home!

Finally - today was our first day in our new studio, which is officially
22 Regent Place, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. If you in our new
neighbourhood feel free to drop in for a brew (and bring cake!)

Still got lots to do to finish off the interior of our space and the
common areas of the building are being finished off but its great
and feels like home instantly!! Heres a preview of our 'bookshelf'
wall illustration and our fantastic lights!! Hope you like?!

I will, of course be posting updates on our happenings
at our new home and post more pics as we progress

3 packages and have just received our new flyers for this
promotion. Printed onto 350gsm natural premium board
with a gloss lam on one side. Here they are in all their glory!

We have based one side as an iconographic
introduction to Kancho and the reverse breaks
down into the 3 packages. If you are interested
in refreshing your brand and want to take advantage
of our current offers, please mail studio@kancho.co.uk

10 Bears 21st!

Our Friend 10 Bears, is turning 21! Such and old head
on young shoulders!

We were tasked with creating his invites, which are
being mailed out as I write this. As Mat is a trendy
young man about town, with many facets, we created
his invites to match, in a multi-fonted typographic
style with 10 bear icons added in for good measure.
- And yes multi-fonted is a word!

on the reverse. All details are printed onto 100gsm velum

Happy Birthday Kancho!

Happy Birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birthday
dear kancho, happy birthday to us!!

Just incase you're not sure, Kancho Creative is officially one
year old today!

My thoughts for the year... In the words of the great 'bard'
Vinnie Jones - It's been emotional!! Being based at home
for year one has helped to keep outgoings down and the
commute is easy, but very soon and rather fittingly we
will be moving into our new premises. So looking
whistfully into the distance, thank you year one,
so long and thanks for for the memories, but welcome
year 2, and bring it on!!

Wedding Season

Blog posts been pretty sparse recently due to our workload
and social calender!. Personal note - must blog more often!!

This weekend we had a fantastic time at Nicola & Simon Masters
wedding! On this occasion we were guests but also the wedding
co-ordinators and event designers. Following a very busy morning
setting up the main room for the wedding breakfast, we settled
down for a fantastic meal and may have been seen on the
dancefloor later on!

The wedding planning is Lisa's new venture. You can check out the
holding page for her new site - www.silversixpence.uk.com
For this event, Lisa did the whole shabang!! Stationary, flowers
balloon release, booked dj, band and photographer, dressed the venue
and still had time to cut some shapes on the dancefloor!!

We received fantastic feedback and the bride and groom were over
the moon with the day! We wish them both a lifetime of happiness
together. Here is a pic of the room and the happy couple.
